Chumpcar build - Any ideas?

My Chumpcar team and I have decided to build a DOHC S13, since three of the four of us have owned S13s either presently or in the past. Since the car is very close to the $500 limit, we are pretty limited on what we can do to the car. We're looking for cheap modifications or parts from junkyards that will help us in our race.

Here are a few of the mods we've started or bought parts for.

- Maxima front calipers/Altima rotors
- Z31 rear caliper brackets to run larger rotors
- Altima dual electric fans
- Car came with a stock LSD so keeping that in
- Stripping interior/dash out
- Removing power steering
- Came with HICAS sway bar (doesn't have HICAS though)

That's pretty much we have planned. We have all the safety/interior equipment to go in too (cage, seat, wheel, hub, harness, etc) but that's pretty much all bought already.

Since we can't just go out and buy a bunch of aftermarket parts, are there any other cheap mods or junkyard parts that may be worth looking into? Right now we have totally stock suspension and if we bought coilovers, we'd be over the price limit and be penalized laps. So we were hoping to find some cheap springs but haven't found anything yet...

Weld your own exhaust, gut the cat, PVC pipe intake with filter, those can get you started. Do a google image search on the "nismo power brace" now take that same design and make your own. Have at it haha. I've always wanted to try something like this.
