yup those are perfect examples of copper being used for that reason. the green that you see on copper is oxidation, but its different from oxidation on steel or other metals. The oxidation on copper actually turns into a protectant of the copper by sealing it underneath, beacause of this, the copper is actually getting better as it gets older.
