Chugging....Then death.

My 95 J30 died after work last night. I just pulled out of the parking lot and gave it some gas to start accelerating. It got up to second gear and was about to shift to third when it acted like I had let off the gas and I was coasting. Im even wanting to say that giving it gas made it slow down.

I let off the gas and just turned off the engine and coasted down the big hill I had just crested until I near stopped. I started the car again and it made it(where the chugging started) to a gas station that was just down the road.

From how ive described it to people, theyve come up with the conclusion that it could be the computer, the spark plugs and wires, or a bad fuel filter. I know ive been needing to change the plugs and wires for years but nobody knows where the hell they are. Weve looked all over the engine and couldnt find a place where they could be. I was browsing the forum looking for anything on spark plugs before I made this post and I found the guide on changing the fuel filter, so if anything those two will be changed once I find out where the spark plugs are at.

A little help?

I kinda sounds fuel related... I woudl check the fuel pressure and see if your fuel pump is healthy... Certainly try and replace the fuel filter, cant hurt!

How long has it been since you changed the spark plugs? I am under the impression that it's been a while since you've done a tune up.

Quite correct. The plugs would have been changed awhile ago if I or anyone ive had look at it knew where they were.

I went to it earlier and started it up. The first time I tried it it would just turn over and over and over. Then I tried again and it started up fine. After about 10 seconds of running(somewhat fine) the engine would start dying and the whole car would shake.

ur spark plugs are under the coil on wires six of them to be precise. which are held down by two bolts, one on each side of teh coil.the pic:ignore the circle. located above the turbo sticker on the manifold you see the coil on wire. the two bolts on either side remove the coil, and theres an electrical clip that must be unpluged b4 removing, usually they are brittle and are easy to break. it is the same design as ur motor jus with turbos.good luck on fixin her

a little off topic but the title of this thread sounds like a frat party gone bad. ... ohhh and good luck with the fix.
