I think Porsche had a 3.0 4 cylinder in the 928 for a while...

I always liked the Conquest/Starions, they're nice looking cars.

SUPER long stroke though if I remember correctly. And the interior looks like the set for an old Star Trek. I like 'em. :)

188hp/234 torque? JESUS it must be a super long stroke to get those numbers. They must have some crank balancing issues with high rpms, in fact i bet they have a short rpm band and redline at like 4.5K.

they are nice cars. predecessors to the Eclipse's venerable 4g63 and true-to-form they are heavy for their size. but they make good numbers under boost and make a pretty easy swap with the 4g63t if you like. it is a FR car. BTW they are frequently called "starquests" to include the starion and conquest under one name to make things easier.

Nissan also has a 2.5 (QR25DE).

The WRX has a 2.2. The STI and 2.5RS Imprezas have 2.5s.

edit: And the Baja and Forester 2.5XTs...

Not very reliable, My friend bought an 88 Tsi and 2 weeks later the engine bay cought fire even though the "mechanic" that sold it to him said it was in great condition and he rebuilt the turbo on it. From what I hear he needs a new engine, that one had a little under 50k on it. The car probably wasn't taken out for drives like it was supposed to but if you're looking to invest into something that old you'd be crazy not to rebuild the engine and probably most of everything else.

My very first car was a Starion ESi-R, which is the same as a Conquest TSi. Mine was an 87. The car is a FR, 2.555L turbo. I'd suggest that you say away from them. Their electrical systems suck. The 87 was the worst. The 88-89 was only slightly better. They junked the car in 90 and replaced it with the Eclipse.

Their fuel injection sucks too. It's not a direct port fuel injection like the KA and SR motors. It has a single nozzle spraying fuel into a throttle body. The injectors were notorious for leaking.
