What do you guys think of the new Chrysler 300?? It starts around $25K and goes up to $35K for a decked out Hemi. It shares its suspension and some "behind the scenes" parts with the Mecerdes E-class. IMO, its a great looking car and its got a 340hp Hemi V8.Is this Chrysler's big come back??

They've been nuts lately with putting good power in their almost decent looking cars (think Ram SRT-10, Neon SRT-4, Magnum, 300C, Crossfire...). I'm really not sure what's up, but they're really going back to the way American vehicles used to be. Bigger engine=better car. I like it, personally, but I still wouldn't buy most Daimler Chrysler vehicles.

I personally like the new direction that they are going. It's about time that the American car companies start looking back to what made their cars popular in the past. I think the new Daimlyer Chrysler cars will have a much higher quality level than in the past. Plus they are adding power which is always a good thing. The new 300C is a great looking car and with that Hemi makes one hell of a nice combination in my opinion. I feel the same way about the Magnum. If I were going to pimp a station wagon, that would deffinetly be the one.

Wow the Magnums are sold out already!! See thats what I mean. Chrysler finally sells something that can compete with the Euro and Asian brands and look how well people respond. But I just keep thinking, I'm not supposed to excited about some ole Chrysler...

It almost seems like DaimlerChrysler focused on the Mercedes brand after the merger. Now theyre finally bringing some life (and Benz quality) back to Chrysler. Im curious about how much the Magnum/300 share with the 2004 E class. I think its more than they say...

American crap that uses a 30 year old monicker as a gimmick. I think a Hemi should actually have proper hemispherical combustion chambers. Plus they look like a$$. Save your lunch money and get a real performance saloon. 5 series all the way.

the only thing cool about this car is it has no camshafts. all solenoid operated valve train. they set this car up to run on 4 cyl at cruising speed to save fuel. when you get on the throttle, the remaining 4 cylinders valves begin to operate normally. kinda cool if you ask me.

its still a chrysler though........

I'm just glad to see them offering something innovative, instead of being 5-10 yrs behind the crowd.Rex, what the heck is that? I thought the 300C only came as a sedan and the Magnum only as a wagon. You have any pics of a Magnum sedan??

IIRC, at this time there is no Magnum Sedan, but due to dealer complaints that should be resolved by the next model year.

They are basically the same car offered under the 2 brands, the initial year models will have some differences that can't be had by the other, but that will go away eventually.

I wish I had a good pic of the Magnum in a darker color.

I work in a Chrysler dealership and they can't keep the 300C's in stock. Everytime we get a shipment, they're gone in hours due to the huge waiting list we have.

Other than the 300C though, business is slow. Not too many people have shown much interest in the crossfire.

It looks like the 300C is the next PT Cruiser in terms of sales.

all of the American companies are gearing up for a big comeback, even Ford (they've got a lot riding in the new Mustang and GT)

GM's got a new global vehicle platform that's RWD and gonna be used on several new Buicks in the coming years.

I gotta subscribe to the automotive news weekly...good reading, it's hard to read a lot of it will making copies at random times while working...

I'm not enthralled with its looks but I'm sure it's fast and fun to drive and very comfortable. I was prepared to love my wife's 300M but I couldn't do it. It was also comfortable, roomy, well designed, well engineered, well-appointed, fast and agile for big car, but it was built SO poorly and had to go in so many times for warranty work that it took much of the joy out of having it. I suspect the 300C/Magnum will be no different. I'd consider leasing one, but would not buy one.
