Anyone got the hook-up on chroming? I need to get my 2 valve covers done and am looking for a decent price; at least better than what I've been getting around here. Everybody down here in south florida is really into bling-bling and the cost of chroming has gone up like the cost of property in these parts:( .

just sand them down then wet sand with 1500 grit, then polish them on a polisher with rubbing compound, then seal it ,then polish it that should work...takes time but it works and the valve covers are not metal so i dont think you can dip them in chrome if you do they would peel off or chip

he thinks the aluminum CA covers will not deal well with the heat of chroming like the chevy chrome covers (you see them alot):) I think...

in his first post where he said "not metal", he meant "not steel"...

man i tried that polishing thing myself once, i prefer someoone to do it for me, plus polishing doesnt compare to chrome, and i have seen plastic chromed so there is a way to get that chrome leaf on anything...

ok, that makes more sense.now, back to chroming.go pick up a street bike magazine. they chrome dip their wheels, frames, swingarms, you name it, and its all made from aluminum, just like our valve covers. so, in other words call some of the advertiser in there.personally, i dont think the polished valve covers look that bad, mine came out ok. now i just need to make the rest of the car look that good.

Powder coat it to look like metal. Or, they have a lot of cool colors and styles to choose from...(bronze, brass, aluminum, chrome, bright chrome, metallic colors, etc.)

what does powdercoating cost (roughly... for valve covers)... I've never seen any place that does it?

I've had a KA valve cover done with a gunmetal/charcoal color for $35 because they had the color in stock (this included sandblasting).

My SR valve cover is in the process but I am trying to match the Mediterranean Blue OEM metallic paint and it costs quite a bit more due to it being a 2-step coating process.
