Has anyone ever had their stock alloy rims chromed? First of all can you have it done? and it wotth It! Thanks

Oh and do you knoe of a shop Thanks!

I think it can be done, however, I have never seen it. If you get it done, post pics.

A number of years ago a gold package J owner put gold wire wheels from these guys. The car looked sweet!!!

Beginning with anything but perfect/new wheels may not yield results that you're looking for in terms of appearance and plated layer adhesion, as plating highlights and does not hide or cover defects at all.

There may also be concerns of weakening the cast aluminum during mechanical polishing, harsh alkaline and acidic chemical pretreatment steps, and questions of long-term durability, especially if areas get dinged and scraped, exposing the aluminum beneath the plated layer.

I've seen a couple of J30s in the SF Bay Area with chromed stock alloy wheels, or maybe they were BBS, and they do look like they'd be easier to keep clean.
