You really shouldn't use them in salt. I had a Mazda Millenia that I drove thru only one winter. It had chrome plated cast aluminum wheels and they pitted despite my polishing and cleaning them as much as the weather would allow.

If you can afford it, find a set of powder coated wheels for winter use. Chrome and machined wheels will not make it.

If you stay on top of them, you shouldn't have to worry. But, by staying on top of them, we're talking REALLY staying on top of them. That is, cleaning them every single day to avoid decay. I had 22" Chrome wheels on my F-150 and used them for a single winter, and they got WRECKED. Go buy a set of used junk wheels - they don't even have to be staggered. For winter use? You're not going crazy, I hope.

Like fairly said plan on washing them mevery time you drive it in the salt. It would probably be better to get a set of winter wheels.
