...Is it normal to have constant "tarnish" build-up on my chrome lip?? I've used just about every chrome cleaner-restorer-bring back to lifer i can think of but a few days later, SPLATT!!

These are my first aftermarket rims, any pointers on how to keep my rollers clean, free of "tarnish". What products work best on chrome??

You sure they're chrome, because chrome wheels are generally easy to keep clean and keep its shine with little to no work. Now polished aluminum is a different beast and sound a little more like what you may have, and yes polished aluminum looks like and shines like chrome to someone that does not know the difference. Even though Polished Aluminum is more high maintenance I still prefer it over chrome, because it's more affordable and much much much (I can't same much enough) lighter then chrome. If I am correct and you do have polished aluminum rims rather than chrome use a wheel acid to clean; this will dull the piss out of them, but cleans the surface thoroughly, then use a wheel polish (I've heard most prefer mothers wheel polish) and polish then out and they should shine like the day you got them. One thing though is you should not have to do this to the rims but once every year or two. When cleaning your car do you shimmy (spl) your wheels first and thoroughly? Because with polished aluminum this is very important or you will have water spotting that may never come off. If I'm wrong and you do have chrome do not do what I mentioned for polished aluminum; chrome is very low maintenance with only washing and drying required. I've owned both chrome and polished aluminum wheels for long periods of time and never did I have to polish the chrome wheels, but the aluminum was a different story.

Could also be dirt into the pores; if it is polished aluminum and not chrome try the wheel acid, but I don't know of any particular name brands to recommend. Honestly I don't know if wheel acid is a store shelf item that you can get at AutoZone or not; when I needed it in the past I knew how to go see, so if you can't find it at the stores go hit up an auto detailer and see if they'll sale you a bottle.

you need to buy a de-oxidizing solution and a polishing solution they usually sell a two step kit. I have a couple bottles because I knew a guy who worked for shipping the products worldwide. my deoxidizer is a green solution and the polish is purple. the deoxidizer is great on removing rust too.

Any brand suggested? Know what the stuff YOU have used is called?

I get nervous dealing with ACID and my car!

When i used to detail cars, we never used any sort of wheel acid on chrome or polished wheels, unless it was so far gone that it could only help. If the chrome(or polished) was only a little stained, Ive seen it leave streaks in the finish.

My advice to anyone using wheel acid: if you use it, dont let it sit on the wheel long Just my $0.02

PS: you could always try.............................
