Just wondering if anyone knows (I think it's possible) to Chrome dip my rims. All this rim talk on here lately is making me antsy. I love the look of chrome over what I have now. Also, is it expensive? Are there any cons to doing that?

Thanks

People do it. I know you can find wheel exchanges on ebay where you buy a set that are chromed and they ship them to you while you ship yours to them.

You can go to a local auto restorer in your area to find out who provides a chroming service in your area.

I personally don't care for chrome, but can't argue with the durability and finish when it's done well.

Make sure you choose a quality shop. You might consider a full dip as well. Many people choose a face dip. Done right it can last for some time, but over time. moisture inside the tire can start corroding the plating. Particularly underneath the plating where it can lift the plating and eventually make a small channel for air to leak out of the tires. You might want to do some research yourself on this as my info is only from memory and it's been a while since I read about this issue.

You mght consider having the wheels highly polished as well. Won't have the same brilliance as chrome, but can still have a very smooth shiny surface. If you do this, make sure you get it clearcoated. Bare aluminum can start looking like crap over time.

There was someone on this site who had it done...do a search for pics. He also put on an '05 spoiler on his '06. It looked really good if I remember correctly.

G-Whizz, at my local Infiniti dealership you can trade in your old wheels for a chrome pair of the same styling. I don't recall the pricing but it may be worth checking into.

Good info. I hadn't realized or at least heard of any dealers doing this.
