Ok here goes... This is going to be hard to explain but I am very interested in these chrome center caps that I've seen on some police cars.

They are chrome and they are center caps LOL however they bolt into the center of the standard black stock rim and they do NOT stick out atall. (you can see the lug nuts also)

Any police here that can provide pics or where to get them or anybody that might know?

I recently re-did my black stock rims (took the ugly hubcaps off) and would love to find a set of these for my car.

Thanks in advance!! :help

Very cool!

They don't bolt on - some slide into the hub hole from the backside and are held onto the hub by the wheel, and some (like the Intrepid) are a snap on cap that is chromed plastic...

It's gonna be hard to find something that'll match up with an import bolt pattern since all police-package vehicles are USDM.

I'd try (don't laugh) JCWhitney or a local used hubcap shop...

Why get "wheels" and yes they do look good

EDIT: And are you sure we are referring to the same thing?

Why must you get bling bling rims anyway? I'm not into that look

Jon - Those are actually a snap on cap that covers the hub and lugs.

And I think they'd look bad-arse on a 240.

LOL....

Here's your plan:If you have 5-lug hubs, find some wheels off an 80's Mustang 5.0 (should be same bolt pattern).

Flat black paint, some Georgia Highway Patrol caps, and you're straight-up Five-Oh pimpin'.

It would be cool to up-size your stock rims. Get a shop to add an inch of width on both sides of the rear stock steelies, one inch to the outter egde of the front rims and you've got old-school style set of 15x7's and 15x8's. I saw this done on a old corrola and it was incredibly badass.

Add the center caps and you're set :ylsuper

I'm telling you! Cool as hell IMO.

I had a pair of Buick 5-spoke steelies cut and widened back in the day - Looked stock from the side, but like a steamroller from the rear!!!

I didn't think it would get this much support... in fact I delayed posting this thread because it's out of the norm of NICO

Problem is neither wheel is 4 lug.

The Impala wheels are 5x115 bolt pattern

The Ford Crown Vic wheels are 5x114.3(5x4.5")

The sweetness would be(if you had 5 lug swap) the Ford Crown Vic wheels with the chrome center caps. The Ford wheels have a center bore of 70.50mm, so they'll easily fit over the smaller 66.06mm Nissan hub.

The best part is you can get the Crown Vic wheels in 16" 5x114.3

The caps come in a couple different styles, from different years. There's a flush-style cap, that barely protrudes, then there's a more bulky cap.

THIS IS THE LINK YOU NEED TO BUY THE HUBCAPS:http://www.hubcaphaven.com/police_88_02.htm

What do you think they did before aftermarket rims were availible? ;)

As long as its done by someone with skill, its safe as a regular wheel.

Mine were lathe-turned and a strip of metal was added in. Lots of precise welding and grinding, but they were really nice afterwards and balanced out well too!

LMAO!!! I agree^^^, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see it on a 240 before I put in my final judgement.

Im not digging it. But, I'd have to see it to really know for sure how it looks on a 240. Im a traditionalist I guess -- simple alloy or chrome 10-spoke rims does the trick for me. Or chrome pans like on Cadillacs and some Q45s.
