CHRIS MATTHEWS: Yeah, well, you know what? I want to do everything I can to make this thing work, this new presidency work, and I think that –

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Is that your job? You just talked about being a journalist!

MATTHEWS: Yeah, it is my job. My job is to help this country.

Matthews wasn’t done with his odd new job description . . .

SCARBOROUGH: Your job is the make this presidency work?

MATTHEWS: To make this work successfully. This country needs a successful presidency.

The entire country was behind Bush immediately after 9/11

The entire country needs to support Obama as he attempts to get us out of the huge mess our economy is in.

At least give the man a chance. Come back in a year

Chris Matthews has been on the air for over a decade. What CHANCE does he need?

If he claims to be a "journalist" and not a commentator, his job is to tell the truth, regardless of whether it makes the president successful. Get it? And it doesn't have to do with giving Obama a chance either. It has to do with a self-proclaimed journalist (he is not) choosing sides. If he wants to be the new White House Press Secretary, he should go apply for the job instead of using GE's resources.

GWB didn't deserve blind support.BHO doesn't deserve blind support.

+1

Scrutiny from the press should be equal opportunity.

Matthews IS a commentator, regardless of what anyone else calls him. He's not a real journalist. I like listening to him, but he doesn't do news, he does opinion, and very biased opinion.

I can't stand Keith O. His delivery is way too smarmy and arrogant. Of the liberal TV commentators, I like Maddow the most. She's more down to earth and easy to take in.

I thought hardball with Chris Matthews was a show about baseball when I first heard it.
