Heading westbound about a mile away from the entrance to the 60 freeway west on GALE ave. Just passing Turnbull Canyon.

Is there anyway to tell it's a smog checkpoint from a distance?

And how do they know who to check, unless of course you're riced out or something like that?

Man all these random checkpoints in LA make SD all that much better...lol

Well from a distance it looks like road construction.

Then when you get close there are cones placed along the road so you can't turn. Then CHP officers are standing around to pull over anyone who turns around.

Then they do random stops one lane keeps going and the other lane is closed and set up with a mobile smog checking machine. I'm guessing all modded cars get pulled over. And all other cars are just random.

I passed it going the other way and it looked like it was just some random cars on the machine and in line to get checked.

In most cases, if you do not pass they will issue you a state ref ticket, unless your car is a "gross-polluter" then your vehicle will probably be towed but this is very unusual. Always look ahead when driving! STAY AWAY FROM BROOKHURST STREET IN FOUNTAIN VALLEY (orange county) THEY CONSTANTLY SET UP SNIFFERs IN THIS AREA!!!

bleh one reason I hardly ever drive the S13...

I got pulled over a month ago by a sherrif who was going the opposite way 1 mile from my house. He checked out all my info then let me go. I think that huge FMIC made him feel antsy.
