My acceleration is choppy sometimes, especially under heavy accel. The check engine light came on one day after hard acceleration , and the problem has persisted ever since. The mechanic gave me the following codes . Being firestone though, they couldnt really tell me much about the problem.

code 28 overheat

14 speed sensor

31 electronic controle module

21 - ignition coil

. Do you think that just replacing the speed sensor should do the trick? What do you think is happening? Note, the car has 230k miles.

the speed sensor shouldnt have anything to do with it.
my guess is take a look at your ignition coil. sounds like it may be misfiring.
also whens the last time you did a basic tune up?

I think he he right. The speed sensor is for your speedometer only i think.

Check you spark plugs, distributor, ignition and injectors.

my friends s14 is doing this at the moment too i think...its like perfect up until 2.25 or 2.5 rpm and then it starts shaking violently like the whole car like its accelerating and decelerating like every half a second, im not sure what it could be i thought it could be his knock sensor malfunctioning since it seems rpm and ignition related..is this the issue your having?

Is that the ecu?
Kinda ironic that it would throw a code for itself.
You should check that out.
