Hello, im new here and I have narrowed down my choices on the car I want to buy...

Lexus 02' Is300 -Manual

Infiniti 03' G35 Coupe -Manual

I don't know much about infiniti, are they realiable? Will it last me a good while? I know that Lexus makes a solid car, but I am not very familiar with infiniti's reputaion. Can someone fille me in please.

mpspeer,I'm new here too, so I'm sure you will get some better advice soon. The G35 is recommended by Consumer Reports. It has a better than average reliability which is very good. The IS300 may be slightly better, but not enough in my mind for me to purchase it based on that. Both should be very reliable. It should be based on which one you like better at this point. However, I have heard that there has been issues with the 03 G35 manual transmission. There are other posts here that talk about the 03 transmission. Personally, I would really test out the 03 transmission with some high rev shifts or look for an 04. My wife has a 05 sedan and we both love it. I'm currently trying to find a way to get a used 03 or 04 coupe for me and keep my cobra convert. My vote is for the G35 Coupe!!! Good Luck!!!

The engine in the Infiniti has been rated at the top for something crazy like 10 years. I was also looking at the IS (350) but once I sat in the G I knew I'd found my car - I didn't even bother test driving the Lexus. My parents had an SC400 and had a few problems. My neight has an '01 Infiniti I something or other and has 150k miles on it with no problems.

As stated before, the G's VQ engine is superior in every way and it's damn near bullet-proof (provided you take care of it)! IMO, there's not much of a choice here -- but then again, I own an '05 coupe and would drive anything else!
