I am just about done with my body mods. I have my stillen front lip, t-rex grill, stillen rear spoiler and by friday I will have my eibach pro kit, new 20's, and hopefully light up kickplates from doc. Now my money is going to brandon for deul projection headlights.

So I want some opinions on what I should do next. I can either get a borla exhaust system and AEM intake, or should I do my stereo system. I am probably going to get 2 10" JL w6's with a custom fiberglass box.

So what would you do first?

I would definately start on performance mods next. IMO the stock stereo is good enough to hold off on for now. Its up to you though, if you would rather have a more aggrissive sounding engine then go for the intake and exhaust, if your lookin for entertainment while driving go with the stereo.. its all about preference

That was my original choice, but lately I have been reading alot of how to's on makeing a fiber glass box, and I really want to try. I am pretty sure I can do it. So that is what has been makeing me, reconsider doing the performance mods first.

this is definitely all about preference... you ask me or Applebonker, and of course we'll say system... ask 90% of the guys on here and they'll say performance...

I say do something that makes your car unique.... EVERYONE does intake and exhaust... no real power gain, just sounds louder when you hit the gas...

but, you drive your car everyday, and you spend your time INSIDE the car, not outside it while other folks are driving it... For me, after viewing online forums and attending car shows, and looking at pics of car shows, I would say my system makes my Altima coupe pretty unique... sound wise, I would say Applebonker may have the best sounding Altima Coupe in the country (and I'm trying to get up there on his level) But that's what we wanted... to make our cars pure bliss for OUR listening pleasure, not for everyone else's

so just figure out what you think you will get the most out of, and do that next... or, if you've got the dough, just say phuck it and do it all at once

I wish I had the dough for both, but I just dropped a little over 2g's on my wheel setup, plus I am getting the deul projectors so, i will be tapped for a bit. I will probably try and build my box first. It will probably only cost about $150 in supplies to do it. Then I will go from there. I just really want to try doing my own fiberglass box. Yea it will be alot of work and take alot of time but the finished project is defenetly going to be one of a kind. I have been having some really insane ideas lately. Plus if I concentrate my extra time on building my box, it should keep me from running around and spending money I shouldnt be spending.

+1

Moreover,SRI and exhaust kits are (in my opinion) just a waste of money. A little more noise that attracts cops and most people think is annoying (an uneducated ear knows no difference between a nice exhaust and a rice one).

And the power gains are minimal, I don't care how sensitive your butt dyno is, I will never believe less than 10hp difference can be felt (in a vehicle that more than, lets say 150hp).

*dodges bullets*

reiterate - just my opinion

I know exactly how you feel with the money issue. I really want some performance upgrades, but I am totally lacking in funds right now from my stereo build. It's definitely all about personal preference. I went stereo first because I spend nearly 2 hours each day in the car, so I want to enjoy it.

My sub box probably cost me about 200-250 in supplies (still have a bit left over of everything). It also took me probably about 50 hours to build (drying time included in that), so you could easily spend two weekends working on creating your own fiberglass enclosure. If you plan on painting it rather than carpeting, expect to tack on at least another 10 hours for filling and sanding. While it was a pain for me to make mine, I'm happy that I did it myself rather than paying someone else to do it. Feels nice knowing that my completely custom setup was designed and installed by me.

I was considering doing them half and half. But I was thinking about the exhaust and the system. The reason I was thinking about this is because I can get the Borla set up for $400. But I will probably just say screw the AEM intake and get the Injen. I might even end up blowing my money on what ever Longbeach is going to hook up on his website. But I am defenetly going to start working on the box right after I do my lights. I will do a thread and a write up on that process when the time comes.

Side note- Ordered my eibach kit from Stillen on Saturday, and got it yesterday. I love stillens shipping. Springs will be on later today

Thanks for all your opinions so far, keep them coming

I guess it depends on which 'music' you prefer. Even my sub-crazed son (two 12" Kickers in the back of our old Sunfire) thinks the stock A/C stereo is pretty good. I went for the intake and exhaust and I'm glad I did. It's a very subjective thing and each person needs to determine what they want the car to become and then chart a path to get there. Heck, each add-on is like another Christmas morning!

In Canada, stereo would e a no go as it voids warranty / messing with electrical.

How is it in the States ?

Brasso Nissan kindly informed me that if I installed it myself it would void the warranty. If, however, I had a "professional" installer do it (ie. Best Buy *cough cough*) then it would be fine.

...like hell I'm taking my car in to Best Buy!

That's where I got mine from, as well - and they offered the options of Future Shop / Best Buy

Right. They basically said any "authorized" installer could do it for you provided you keep your receipts.
