Hello all,

I've got a 06' Altima SE-R 225/45ZR/18. My stock Potenzas recently got swiped and I'm starting to look for some new tires for the spring/summer. I spend most of my day in the car driving, so I'm looking for good traction and most certainly great control on the rain. I have been eyeing the Toyo Proxes 4, and the Potenza RE05A Pole Position. I'm not limited to these but starting to lean their way. Not real concerned about cost, just realiability and control. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Well, I can attest to the effectiveness of the Toyo 4. Excellent handling tire in both the wet and dry. It can also be run year round as it is an all-weather compound. I'm sure Pole Positions are good too but I think they're more money.

BFG G-Force KDW's are also a very good performance tire with emphasis on wet handling.

You've got a host of tire choices in that size. WHat do you do with the car? HWere is it located, and what kind of budget do you have?

All of these factors will afect what tire will be best for you.

If you have the money, ADVAN Sports would rock your world, as will a Michelin Pilot Sport 2. The RE050A is good, but doesn't quite have the performance envelope available in the ADVAN or Michelin. Unfortunately, the performance (dry, wet, comfort) provided by these tires means they cost accordingly.

If you want somethign more gentleon your wallet, a BFG KWD would be good, but suffers from noise issues. the Proxes 4 is a good tire, but not an "all-season" in a traditional sense...just because they brand it that way doesn't mean it's competant in those conditions. Overall, thought, it is still a good tire. If I didn't want to spend the money on a premium tire, the proxes 4, KD or even a Falken would do decently and not break the bank..

Let us know how you drive, where you drive, and how much money you have and I can get you into a tire that will meet your needs.

Right now, I have some Toyo Observes on for the winter so this tire choice is for the warmer weather. I drive on the highway 60%, and through citys 40% about 5-6 hours ++ a day / plus spend the time on my phone so quiet tires are important. I drive throughout the New England area. Price is the least of my concerns, well....at least not a big concern. I use the car for sales calls most of the week going from customer to customer, and on the weekend have my driving time for fun. Thanks! I appreciate the help from all

Well, given the noise concern, that elimiantes the grippiest tires (the ADVAN Neova and Bridgestone RE01R), but leaves a good slection of grippy, quiet tires.

I'd go with the ADVAN Sport in a heartbeat as they tend to be very well-behaved (noise and ride comfort) and still grip very well. The tire is what I run on my 350Z for the grip first of all..the fact it's quiet and comfortable was a bonus.

THe Michelin Pilot sport 2 (PS2) is another great option, and I had those on my S13 with great results...unfortunately, they cost a good bit more than the ADVAN. These will be a bit better in wet than the ADVAN, but not as comfortable/quiet.

For a more cost effective option, the RE50A would be excellent as a step-down in price, without much compromise in tehcnology or performance.

moving further down the scale, I would look at the ES100 or AVON M500. THe Yokohama will perform well, but is a bit dated compared to the AVON or even the Dunlop Direzza...

HOpe that helps
