Asked a while ago in Q45 forum. I have the FSM, but couldn't figure it out! The only thing I see for the brake lights is the wiring diagram! Two of the LED's are out, but sometimes work, I want to pop it out, clean the connections and hope for the best.. So how does it come out? The spoiler is held on with tape and bolts, so there's no chance I'm taking it off that way, I'll just live with it if that's the case.

Rear deck, something loose on rear deck, want to secure it. My Q makes absolutely no rattles, squeaks, etc. from anything, but the rear deck. Stereo on, can't hear it, but I wan't to know it's not there, stereo on or off.

THANKS!!

CHMBL in spoiler is released by pushing lightly with both thumbs while fingers are atop the spoiler. It is spring loaded.

Darn, you have a 98? Saw one the other day. I'll have to find one that's a t model and see if it is like the G50.

Don't have the FSM for that year and Nissan dropped the CHMBL in the spoiler after that.

Yeah, it's a 98. Brian, I appreciate your replies, you were the only person that replied in the post I made about the same topic in the Q45 forum. I can't believe that out of the "best" Infiniti resource on the web no one knows the answers to seemingly simple issues!

Not many 1997-1998 FY33 t models here.

Call the boys at Joe for a quicker answer.

You'll need to remove the rear seats in order to remove the rear deck. I did that when I replaced the rear speakers. I don't know anything about the 3rd brake light yet.

Thanks The rear seat seems to be cake from looking in FSM and a brief test, if only I could find an accurate source on the stupid CHMBL!

Kevin-I'm not going to be much help. I looked at it today, was not able to unlatch it with my thumbs. it looked like i woulda had to remove the felt finisher in the trunk lid, but i didn't do it as mine is working ok. probably not news, but for the first time i noticed that the spoiler strip is LED lighting, so maybe you just have a loose connector? i think MTBF on LEDs is in the 10000 hour range.

That's what I'm hoping. Thanks!

That would explain the failure of the two thumbs method, as the G50 is incandescent. Presumably, since the LED are so long lived, one would remove the spoiler completely to replace the illumination.

That's not an option though, the spoiler is held on with double stick body tape and bolts. Too much effort. I'm gonna pull the carpet trunk liner and mess with the connection. When it was first pointed out to me, I had my buddy get in and hit the brakes, the lights would sometimes all come on, sometimes not. We shall see if cleaning the connections up solves it.

That's a better strategy because you have a connector/switch problem.

Start with the brake pedal switch. Hope it's not inside the spoiler.

Thought you had some burned out LED originally.
