chirping sound coming from air conditioner... what is this?

'90 hatch base. when I have my a/c on my car makes one chirp every once in a while under WOT, sometimes at low rpms and sometimes at high rpms. Sometimes between high rpm shifts and downshifts. Is this ok? Is there a fix? does anyone else get this chirp?

Is the noise in the cabin? Or in the engine bay?

If it's in the bay, I bet your belt is slipping ever so slightly Either buy a new belt or try adding a little more tension to it with the idler pulley.It's possible the clutch on your AC is having issues as well. When you WOT, your AC will turn off briefly... which could be causing a slight slip in the belt or a fun noise when the clutch disengages.

I agree . Mine had a similar problem with the belt slipping. My clutch was also going bad so i rebuilt my compressor and it works fine.

back when I was ka24de.. i had the same "chirp" or slight momentary squeel... its the belt... but gave me a smile because it sounded almost like a BOV.. esp. cuz it only happened when I up shifted, lol.
