Hello this is my first post and i hope i can get some help from you guys :),

Currently im driving a Nissan Sentra B17 Manual transmission.

Thing is i get this chirp noise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKnmIOGRHqM when i hit around 60mph, if i get higher speeds the noise just come louder, this sound remains even without pressing the accelerator pedal and cruising in neutral gear.

Already went to dealership and i got the serpentine belt changed, but the chirp remains.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I could easily be wrong about this, but it sounds like engine ping to me. Anyone agree? Disagree?

Again, not an expert on the topic, but I'll offer what little I know. Check this Youtube vid and see if the noise sounds familiar to you:

If that sounds like what you're experiencing, there are a number of different causes/solutions. The easiest is running higher octane gas. I've seen some folks who tried it, and the ping cleared up.

Unfortunately, I can't offer any advice beyond that, but I think it's likely a good place to start. After that, I'd search here and Google for better answers.

You are right it does sounds similar, im gonna keep looking for other similar cases, it sounds like is a spark plug problem which is kinda weird since the car doesnt even have 10k miles.

Thanks

Would it matter that in most of the videos i had seen with similar noise the car is at idle, while mine only starts making at 60+ mph?

Weird. I only saw the one video, which was at higher speeds/loads, but I must admit that I stopped looking when I heard something that I thought sounded very much like your noise. Goes to show how much "fun" research can be when two people can find what appear to be different answers. Most of what I've read on the topic indicates that ping occurs under load, and the first place most folks started was with 91 octane gas. If you're using a lower octane, I'd begin by running a tank or two of 91 and seeing if that make any difference.

I've also read that a bad MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor can contribute to the problem. A bad MAF can cause the car to run lean. Once that happens, cylinder temps rise and cause pre-ignition. Seems a little strange on a car with 10k miles, but I s'pose it can happen.

I really hate to keep saying this, but I'm just not a pro on this topic. I want to help and I'll do what little I can, but please DO NOT take my word as gospel on this topic. I'd like to hear from someone else on this forum who can identify the problem with far more certainty than I.
