Hi,everybody!I started noticing a couple of months ago a few chipped places down to the primer on my hood. Later on,a few more on the side front left fender. Then, last night after washing it,noticed 2 more on the hood!! Has anyone else had this problem? I haven't noticed any on the lower door but I will check that too! In the Rogue brochure,it boasts about having a special paint & coating that resists pock marks & chips. Doesn't seem like it's working very well!!!!Mitch

I haven't had any chips as of yet but I am not real pleased with Nissan paint. Each time I wash my car I notice more and more spots in the paint. The spots look as though the clear cloat has been taken off, very dull. This is my first black car. Don't know if these kinds of things are more noticeable on black or if it's just inferior paint/clearcoat the Nissan uses. I did take my car in a couple of days ago to have the 3M coating done on the thresholds and the tech there said he did not like Nissan paint because it was inferior to some other car companies. Any previous Nissan owners have any issues with paint?

I picked up my Airstream Rogue "S" yesterday...and this morning noticed a paint-chip (on the rear)!!! > I haven't even had time to go over the manuals, so I'm hoping Nissan fixes this as part of the warranty. Other than that, I'm incredibly happy with the car.

Well, I just found out paintchips are NOT covered by warranty, but my salesman is going to get me a paint pen for free. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.

My 2003 Altima wasn't too bad except for the front bumper... it was in rough shape when I traded it in. It's not just Nissan though. Mazda's have the same chipping issue. You should see my fiancee's 2002 Mazda Protege... The hood, front fenders and front bumper look like the surface of the moon! Every stone chip instantly starts to rust as well.

I know we all hate to get stone chips, but in reality it's a fact of life. Take some advice:

- Wash and wax your vehicle regularly- Look for chips and keep the paint pen handy to touch them up before rust occurs.- Use protective films or a hood deflector to protect the vulnerable hood area.

And for those who own black/ebony colors: It's the most difficult color to keep clean on any car. It shows every single flaw, spot, water mark, swirl etc. whereas lighter colors don't show as much. Good luck!
