Chime that won't go away (@ start-up)

My '06 M35x has a new 'quirk' - Starting about a week ago, a lingering 'chime' has persisted, often fading away at different moments..then attempt a re-chime - only to wind down and end.

It sounds like the seat-belt chime (? wait...is there a seat belt chime?)

No - It's the normal 'chime' from just starting the car - when all the lights light up and the system runs all it's checks - That chime is supposed to last, like, 3 seconds - It's now lingering 2-3 times as long and then "petering out" (sp?) for a second or 2 more.

What does this indicate? I have the Elite warranty - I guess I'll just run it by the dealership?

ALSO - Is there a warranty to "pick-up" where this Elite warranty drops off @ 100K miles? Options?

Sounds like the bcm (body control module) has a short or bad contact. Any other signs such as windows or door locks not functioning properly? What about wipers? Do you see the door open sign on your display or seatbelt fasten icon?
