I had a friend rebuild a 240 for me because I could no longer afford my car payment. It's done now and he moved away. Problem #1...there is some kind of fluid leaking near the clutch pedal. I don't know what it is. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be and what needs to be done to fix it. Problem #2 the light under the drivers side is on and will not turn off. It has never done this before. It came on when I turned on the lights and it never went off. Also when I was driving the light that tells you your door is open was on and would not go off even though all the doors were closed. Please help. By the way...I have to drive this car 6 hours in less than 2 weeks. If it makes it I can get all the work I need done on it for very cheap. Will it make it there with whatever problems it is having?

Thanks!

problem 2 wont be a problem driving that distance. However problem 1 could be a problem. that fluid is the clutch master cyl. the rear seal of it is blown out and aloowing fluid out of the system. You at least need to get that replaced and the system bled before you make the journey.

The light and the door ajar warning are related. it is likely the door pin at the lower rear corner of the drivers door opening[accordian looking boot] open your door and try pushing it in with your hand. see if your lights go out. If they do you can remove the single phillips screw holding it to the car pull the swith out a little bit and add a small washer behind where the screw goes through then put the screw back in. Close your door and see if the light goes out.

Is that expensive?

Expensive is a relative term. This depends on your personal income on weather something is expensive or not. Typically in terms of car repair its not all that expensive as compared to say a valve job or even a major service. The labor costs vary across the US But I wil give you an approximate labor time for the job, they will get you for anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half to remove and replace it. The dealer I work for charges $98 and hour, but I am in a higher cost of living state. the rate in knoxville will likely be cheaper. The cyl itself will be somewhere around $60 very rough guess.
