Hello all. I searched a bit for smog issues with the SR20 and all I turned up were threads about the harsh Cali Emission Standards and the SR.

Does anyone know if the SR20 will pass the Chicago/Illinois Smog testing? It would be in a '95 240 so it would only be sniffer tested.

thanks in advance,grimple1

you'll prob be better off asking this in the SR forum. I dont know what IL smog regs are, but if you run a cat and take percautions, you will prob pass.

No smog testing down here in Champaign, IL, but I don't know if you can get a sticker out of county.

Tricks for passing emmissions and these are proven to work, I passed with no cat installed at all.

1. Retard your base timing 4-5 degree's2. Run your car very low on pump gas, then add 2 gallons of denatured alcohol3. Have the motor extremely warm prior to testing4. Pull one injector plug wire, it'll run like ***, but it effectivly raises the AF ratio 2 full points and turns that cylinder into an air pump. So your pushing more air into the exhaust.

Worked for me, best of luck.

Slick. I like it. You can actually turn one cylinder off with Consult too. Or change all of the maps to go lean temporarily.
