Well being from buffalo originally I've seen much much worse. but my
Alley was 2-3 foot drifts easy heavy snow. Have to
Say that although I was the 2nd vehicle to clear the
Unplowed alley (neighbors Tacoma made first pass) the
Toyo HT tires Suck in the snow, no bite but i did make it through
But it was nothing like my 94 SE with the big goodyears.

My toyos are great most of the year but now I'm wondering whats
A better all all arounder should we start seeing more snow.

Positive note my Warn hubs just arrived! Once everything v
Clears I'm gonna pop those bad boys on.

Anyone else in Chicago area?

Peter

Since you live in an area like me, which snow comes well every winter haha, id consider getting a set of aftermarket rims for the spring/summer/fall with some good all season or summer tires. And put snow tires on your stockers. As of now in the spring/summer/fall i have my 20x9 chrome rims with 265/45/20 Hankook rubber, and they are great in huge downpours in both braking and handling. Then for the winters i throw on my stock 16;s with Pirelli Scorpion Ice & snow tires.

A good investment in my opinion as you get good looks and good performance tires in the better seasons, while when it comes to winter, snow is not a hassle as with an open differential in 2wd, i can get up huge hills around where i live with no problem when theres like 3-4 inches of snow/slush on the roads, the handling is great and same with breaking.

I rarely need to throw it in 4wd and thats mainly when im playing around in deeper snow or drifting in some parking lot. But if i do throw it in 4wd Hi on the roads, basically your king as i fly by everyone with their all seasons going 60 and they are going 25-30.

Dont know how your funds permit, but if they do, id definetly consider that as i bet chicago winters arent the best.

I will price those out. I have an extra set of stock rims due to recent
Purchase. Just never needed true winter set on my other trucks but they did
Carry meatier tires all year. I'll look into the scorpions. Thanks.

x2 on snow tires for winter. Running Blizzaks size 245/65/17. Vast improvement. First set of "true winter" tires I have ever owned.
