Checking out a motor tomorrow.. Tips???

Morning yall,

Like it says, I am going to go check out a local redtop today/tomorrow and wanted to put together a list of things to look for. From what I know prior, it was in a running car; but the chassis harness burnt up and was never repaired so the motor has sat for 8 months (estimate). Going off that, the only things I can think of are, compression test, check oil for metal shavings, and shaft play in the turbo. I am sure there is a thread somewhere around here but I was only able to find chassis specific threads.

If anyone has any other ideas, please, feel free.
