It's a 1989 Nissan 240SX, which comes with the KA20E.

250, 000km, which is around 160, 000miles?

Fuel Pumps needs to be replaced, and something with the clutch linkage is broken. It runs.

He said he swapped the engine out for a KA20DE. How do I check this out? I heard there are numbers on the firewall, but are they underhood by the drivers side? Since the engine has been swapped or not, the numbers ****.

I only saw the car drive by a few times. There is sunroof, body is decent, and I didn't see any rust yet. It's a 5-speed as well. I don't how to drive 5-speed, but I'll learn.

Here are my questions:

1. How do I verify if it's a DOHC, and not a SOHC?2. Where is the number on the firewall? What do these numbers mean? I should see S13 in the number right?3. I will be checking out the tires, rust between doors, and the trunk, the brake lines, the overall cleanliness of the interior, and other easy visuals. What other things should I look for?4. If it turns out to be a SOHC, can this engine produce decent power?5. What are the cosmestic changes from the 89 to early 90's 240SX?

Note: He's asking $1000CDN($650US?), and I'll probably pick it up for $800CDN($500US?)

PS. I know it's long, and there's lots of questions, but that's why I numbered them. :D

Thanks, for all the help.

its the KA24E and DE, not KA20E and DE

1.)i guess an easy way to verify the motor would be to see if the spark plugs are on top of the valve cover its the KA24DE, or if it says "ECCS" in huge bold letters on top of the intake manifold, in plain sight, its the KA24E(sorry, try not to get those mixed up).2.)I think the number on the firewall is on a silver plate on the passenger side of the firewall in plain sight, but i could be wrong.3.)rust under the spoiler, if a spoiler.4.) yes, its capable of as much as the DOHC in my opinion, use the red search button on that.5.) search

you could also use google, and visually verify the motor, just search for "KA24E", and "KA24DE" they look very different.

thats a good buy, though, if you get it

Well considering you already answered a few questions, you could have answered the cosmetics, but that don't matter anymore.

Thanks though.

Isn't there any common problems with the 240SX? I got a Neon, and we all know there problems.

Listen for a ticking noise when you start the car, pop the hood and listen for ANY kind of ticking, if so its the timing chain. If its got 250 kms on it I can garuantee its gonna have to get it replace if it hasnt already. It will run you about $1300 cnd at a dealership $800 or $900 if you go elsewhere.

That is a great price by the way, I havent seen a decent one that price ever... so make sure to check it out. In 91 they changed the rims to a six(?) spoke design and a sleeker front bumper. I just threw on '02 Sentra SE-R (non spec v) rims for 250 cdn, and the newer bumpers arent hard to find, or aftermarket ones for about $250. Make sure to check the trunk, under the spare for rust.

that might not need the timing chain replaced my 93 has 172k on it and had it for 90k myself so i have been reading about the timing chain wear and started to worry about it alot cause high miles so took it apart last weekend to find nothing no wear at all on the guides the chain was tight nothing but seems how i had allthe stuff to change the chain i did all with the head gasket no wear at all on the piston walls .
