Hello all. Funny story post selling my Q. New owner steam power washed the engine compartment two days after the sale. He calls me advising the car displays TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION. He ahd trouble driving the car home as it would only do 35 or so at higher than norm RPMs. I am like...great, he blew the transmission!
As a courtesy to the buyer (a friend of one of my wife's friends), I swing buy. Run the trans diagnostic and error 3 pops up - TPS sensor. I unplug it - had some water in it and shorted out. Some corrosion, too. I cleaned it up and the car was fine.
Moral of the sotry - CAREFUL WHEN YOU POWER WASH!
Counterpoint - the engine compartment looked showroom new!
As a sidenote...HITMAN - I found the Vericom plug. Careful when you race 740i BMWs....I did a 0-60 run this AM and it turned a 7.3 with a half tank of gas at 2000 feet elevation. Best my Q did was 7.75. Beat the Q's best 0-60 distance traveled by around 35 feet (365' v. 400').
