Well i've finally come to the conclusion that the reason why my 93 240sx is so sluggish at high and low rpm's is my fuel pump. but one problem remains, how do you check if its bad?? any help on this is greatly apreaciated, thanks

have you changed your fuel filter.. thats the cheapest and easiest way to find out... you also didn't mention if you checked your injectors or not.. you have 4 things it could be.. your fuel pump is bad or strainer is clogged, your fuel filter is dirty and needs tobe changed, your injectors are bad and need to be heat treated or replaced, your FPR=Fuel pressure Regulator is bad and needs to be replaced. and as well.. your sensors could be bad that control your mixture which is in this order, MAFS, Air Ambient Temp Sensor, Collant Temp Sensor, O2 Sensor. they all control mixture so if theres a problem with one of them, it will throw your mixture either lean or rich which will cause your power loss. but if you did that all... you should replace your fuel filter.

by the way it does it after it warms up, about 5 minutes after I start it up, depending on the temperature of the day.

thats a good idication of a few things actaully.. first off your O2 sensor has to be heated to 600degrees farenwhateverheight. so that could your problem right there or your collant temp sensor which goes with the heat of your car to determine mixture as well.. the way your collant temp sensor works is when you start the car its cold which the sensor knows this and runs the mixture rich untill it gets to operating temperature and starts to lean out the mixture till your o2 says ok thats where it should be at.. if its faulty it could cause the computer to say hey i'm still cold or hey i'm too hot and make the car run too rich or lean.. check your ecu and see if you may have pulled a code from a faulty sensor.

anyone know anything about cleaning the sediment out of the gas tank. I was wondering if it might be possible to suck out some of it through the fuel pump access. or does the filter screen on the pump take care of that sort of thing. I figure if theres no easy way just keep it half full so it doesnt make it to the fuel lines
