how do you go about checking the codes on the rb25 s2? there are no lights to look at? do you need a diagnostic tester?

Hook up the CEL wire. Then short the CHK and IGN ecu pins for 2 seconds and release. The CEL will now blink the code

I think you just use a jumper wire. I just wired in the Consult plug and ordered the cable and software from PLMS. It made my life a lot easier when I was troubleshooting cars I was working on.

Stock it is by the fusebox behind the drivers side kick panel. I relocated mine to the glovebox when I wired it into the 25.

are the wires for the consult normally wired through the white dash plug which sends info from the ecu to the consult plug by the fuse panel? Because when wiring my swap i wired in all the wires to the white dash plug. So im guessing i wont have to wire anything else up then?

On that one, I couldnt tell you. Its been about 5 and a half years since I wired my car. All I remember is wiring the consult plug directly to the ecu, because the write-up didnt cover that.

anybody else wanna chime in on this? Do i need to wire my consult plug directly to the ecu? or did i already wire it by doing the white dash plug wiring completely using all the wires?

Do you not have a little screw on the side of the ECU? It's recessed, and next to the hole (sorta oval shaped) the fault code light would be.

That is amazingly awesome info, never read that before, thanks.. Does that just put it into diagnostic mode, then when you're thru short them again to clear codes & put it back to run mode?

Just curious, what color is your cas?The procedure for the pin jumping is in the FSM, pages EN-294-298. Doesn't see why you can't jump the pins directly at the ECU harness.

Never read the RB25 sections of the FSM, good info right there. My buddy's S2 has a black plastic CAS iirc, can't remember exactly but I don't think it's the metal one.

How come in a previous thread you say there is a screw on the ecu you can turn?zerothread?id=327223Do you have a different ecu now?Just curious, try to figure out how many ECU's the s2 RB25 came with.

mello88: if the cas is plastic then the motor is the R34 rb25det. lev, solid lifters, gtr rods, and then some, if i recall.

eh: my S2 doesnt have a screw or light on it either. not sure if the consult was wired in correctly but i plan on checking on it soon.

The last S2 RB25's also had the black CAS. I think I have an early S2 ecu here, it has the screw but no light.

Dude its so easy to check codes. If you didn't wire in the consult plug don't even worry about it. Just find the "CHK" pin and "IGN" pin, take a piece of wire and connect them for two seconds with ignition on. If you did it correctly, you cel will flash any codes you might be throwing.

All nissans newer than 95-96 removed the LED for self-diagnostics. So you have to use the jumper method to manually check codes

No just take a paper clip and jump the wires at the back of the ecu harness. Just take off the plastic cover.
