I'm trying to check the codes on my SR20DET ECU and the red light is NOT flashing at all. I start with the screw completely COUNTER clockwise and then turn it all the way CLOCKwise and nothing happens, it just stays solid.

The car has been idling high ever since I installed it and running very rich. The ECU has a dent in the edge of the case from shipping that had me worried from the beginning.

Does a non-flashing ECU light mean that the ECU has been damaged?

I was trying to do the test in ON mode. I just tried it in Accessory mode and nothing at all happens.

It is supposed to be done with the key in the ON position right?

I just read somewhere that the engine must be at operating temperature to get the codes. Is that true? A friend of mine with a CA18 said he got codes from his ECU when it was cold once. I know it's a different motor/computer, but it's still the same era Nissan.

Well, it was a bad ECU. I drove by Enjuku today and asked Ken if I could test the car with one of their ECU's and sure enough it worked. So I bought it and I'm going to hope the company I bought the first computer from will pay me back.
