haha, probably right.

nah- I think it's fair to say that for the most part people have good luck with sportmax. Maybe they are lacking in quality control though...

anyway this is how she sits now, the wheels are the least of my concerns

bow to my MSPaint skills!

but yeah, maybe a used set of JDM wheels would be better. its made from the steel of hatori hanzo.

Most likely a result of hitting a pothole at some point in time. Maybe even a few months ago. Regardless, the wheel should bend not crack/break apart.

This isn't the first time I've heard of this happening with SportMax wheels.

JUST SUE THE GUY AT THE SHOP!!

Take these pictures to court, and dude, it will work in your favor. No judge will believe that normal driving will do this to a rim.

(this is if the shop is denying it or being A-holes, but you say they are family friends, so......)

Sue for Pain and Suffering too. Say that everytime you walk down the street and see wheels, you hyperventilate and get a panic attack due to stress that they will blow up any minute.

^ but how can he prove that it wasnt caused by a pothole he hit at some point? its not really an air tight case w/ lots of hearsay

This is kinda rediculous. He hit a pot hole. No suprise there. Sportmaxes are cheap and obviously very brittle because they are so cheap. I feel that if I throw my 5zigens hard enough to the ground they will break or crack because the quality is very brittle. Theres no mystery. Hitting a pot hole at 65mph will never be any thing like "drifting your car hard". Pot holes are the number one killer of rims, and don't expect cheap rims to bend.

Definitely, I'd get some VORK D-wings, or VORK Misters.

Well, the blown up wheel happened during the Shops possesion so, they should pay. The guy brought in the car with unblown wheels, so he should get them back in the same condition.

You guys are smokin some serious herbs. If that wheel is exploded like that then it was obviously gonna do it sooner or later. The shop is not responsible for that. I mean seriously.... who hits a pothole and expects half their rim to fall off? Nobody does nor should they unless the wheel had previous damage and formed stress crack over time and a pothole just killed it. Even still shop's not responsible. Manufacturing defect. Invest in some quality wheels bro or something...

Also it would help alot if they or you had the other 10 sq feet of wheel that fell off so you could see whether it was damaged or not.

Try again, those arent volks, HAHA... they are ssr's. How can no one see that. Sad.

I have sportmaxes, they are fine and i know many who drift with them, sponsored and not, and guess what, no problems. Learn from experience, not from the junk you hear on the internet. I have track wheels anyway, so who cares about weight.

You guys are way to gullible...

yea like i said i dont think this is a common occurance. however this car was never drifted or raced, but it did see its fair share of potholes. The failure probably was a mix of a previous stress fracture, a pothole, and being of cheaper material

You = FAIL. Think before speaking:

See anything similar?

We are gullible???? Get the f*** out.

To the OP - take them to court. What matters is - the SHOP BROKE IT! That's it. You win.

Wrong. Smocan is right. They're SSR D5Rs.

Volk GT-Cs have thicker spokes.
