what does the "check" relay do?

Are you talking about the "Bulb Check" relay? If so, I believe it's the one that makes all of the warning lights illuminate on your dash when you turn the key to the "on" position but don't have the truck running.

That is what I was thinking too. It is located on the passenger side front under the hood in a box with other relays. I believe mine just says "check relay" These idiot light are out on this truck will have to check this relay in the morning. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that relay only come into play for the "check" when you first turn the key to the on position, but haven't started the engine yet... not totally sure on that though. The service manual doesn't say much about it. My guess was basked on google as much as anything :couch
