check out this f*cked up transmission question

my car is a 1992 240 w/s13 redtop.......

Ok here it is.yesterday I swapped bell housings b/c my transmission was crap.everything went just fine.the transmission came from my last KA and was fine when I took it out.I thought it was all good until I decided to run the car in the air just to make sure everything was ok.I started the car and let the clutch out in neutral...the tires stART MOVING. the speedo was at about 40mph and the tach was at 1000 rpms.It gets better,it wont go into 3,4,5 or reverse with the car on or off..when I put it in 1st or 2nd the car just dies like I tried to drive with the e-brake on..what the hell?????I think it is stuck in 5th or 4th,but how?

tires will rotate if the car is up on stands even in neutral. You should be able to stop them with your hand or foot. BE CAREFUL IN CASE YOUR transmission IS SCREWED UP AND ACTUALLY IN GEAR! I had an instance where while handling a transmission one of the shift forks was knocked out of whack and jammed between two gears. If the transmission was fine when you pulled it then it is likely something stupid misaligned not a bad transmission. Well maybe now if you tried to drive with it tweaked.
