SteveTheTech's wife has MS, and he's collecting for an MS Ride he's going to be in. Info is in his sig, check any of his posts, or his profile:
stevethetech-u103802.html

He has a modest goal of $750, and in light of how much he gives of his time, knowledge, and access to Infiniti technical resources here, it would be a great thing if some us could pitch in and put him over the top. The web site only takes credit cards, but I sent a Paypal directly to him to put in for me. PM him for info on how to do that if you want to go that route.

Well, certainly having MS isn't great news, but we've PM'ed back and forth on it a couple of times, and she's doing much better now that she's diagnosed and being properly treated. In fact, one of the main purposes of the organization he's raising funds for is to get information out there about the disease and its treatments and outcomes, both for people with MS and the people around them, and for the rest of us also. Often people suffer from symptoms and get misdiagnosed multiple times, sometimes for years, and then are not well-informed by their health care providers. One of my friends who found out about hers last year was absolutely terrified until I put her in touch with another friend who's been coping with MS for 15+ years.

Hey Mudgen, hope you don't mind if I replicated your thread in Gen Chat.

This is a great cause, and I'd like to see NICO get behind it and help him achieve his goal.. and I think the exposure in the gen chat forum is a good place to post it as well.

I know he appreciates it, Zo!

Eikon, I think posting in in other forums is a great idea. I put it in G general because that's where I hang out mostly. I'm kinda new around here and I don't want to be spamming.

Just giving this a bump to keep it visible. Steve's over a third of the way to his goal, and there's still plenty of time to get him there. Direct link:

Recap: SteveTheTech's wife has multiple sclerosis and he's taken up the cause, raising funds for a charity ride in June.

Again, the MS Society site takes only credit cards. If you'd like to send him something with Paypal, PM him for where to send it--it's not a good idea to post private e-mail addresses on a public forum.

You guys really are the best.

Thank you all for helping me support the National Multiple Sclerosis society.

After weeks of training and extended weekend rides we are both starting to realize the scope of what we have signed up for. It is kind of fun and pretty taxing...as I sit here the morning after our longest ride to date wondering when the Aleve and coffee will kick in.

I will keep you guys informed on how the training goes if you guys are interested.

Again thank you all for your generosity in the trying times for all of us it is good to know there are still some great people in this world. I hope you all receive the good karma points you have passed on.

Steve, I'm sure we're all interested in how the training goes. Congratulations on hitting the halfway mark on your fundraising. Some of us, at least, will be keeping an eye on that, too.

Most generous. You are definitely "kind of a big deal" in my book!

Hey, I'm gainfully employed and climbing the social ladder to be more so. I figure that there are enough people in bad spots that want to give that I should do so in their stead. Think of that as being from me and a handful of NICOnauts who couldn't give.

And, Mudg, I won't hold UNC against you. Nobody's perfect.

Hey everyone,

Just a quick update.

We are now riding 3 days during the week for 1 hour (18-20 miles per day) and about 50 miles on the weekend, split between .
Phew, it has been an interesting experience.

I did not know that there is coffee flavored goo that you have to consume while riding...yeah after 30 minutes at 17 mph you need to replace spent energy and you really need a boost of energy. So that answers the question of why are there pockets on the back of biking jerseys...to hold your "food".

Last Saturday we where getting setup to ride from Leesburg to head 17 miles toward the city. I somehow managed to fall into a ditch while attached to my bike and break a rib at mile 1 of 35. Cycling kicked my a_s!

I'd like to thank everyone again for getting me so close to my goal. I couldn't have done it without you guys. Your the best.

Oh badass I didn't know that was you.

I thought you where some overly generous co worker.

Thanks :)

You guys are awesome!!!

The rides coming up real soon. My wife is doing better than I have seen her do in years. This ride and all of the support has really improved her moral. I haven't seen her this frustrated but happy since her first flair. I am really touched by the support I have received from the NICO crew.

Thanks,
