I've been trying to figure out how to mount a 275/40/17 on the front of my 07 G35 for a couple weeks now. It comes down to back spacing and offset and yes it will probably LOOK stupid but perform amazing!

These are just for the track so I don't really mind that they are black. I could repaint them myself but I will probably leave them the way they are so I can resell them to a Mustang owner in the future.

The rims are 17x9 Mustang Bullitt rims sold by American Muscle. The offset is +45mm the backspacing is 172mm so they will fit on the front of a G35.

The tires are Kumho Ecsta Victor V710 racing tires. All 6 are 275/40/17, 4 of them are about half used up 2 of them are new.

Heres the pictures... I'll post more with them mounted on my car!

Um... are you sure +45 will fit???

My wheels are 18x9 +20 front and 18x10 +20 rear... if they were not, then they would not clear the calipers...

???

I'm not opposed to using my die grinder on the wheels or the car

I could add spacer if needed. I talked to discount tire and they said the wheels would fit but the tires will rub. They said 255 was the widest I could fit on the front.

The whole set up is a big gamble but I think I can make it work. I will let you guys know either way.

Awww Crap! Now you have 1 upped me on the track set up... Could this have anything to do with the fact that you and I are going to Firebird Raceway next month????? I think Infiniti of Scottsdale is going to approve my participation in the track day and waive the $395.00 entry fee! I'll let you know when I hear back from them again. You and I should try to get in the same class when we register on track day... Those tires are going to make a HUGE difference... let's just pray that the rain Gods take that day off!

You know some how today the "biggrin" smiley just isn't big enough!

If you notice I did buy 6 wheels and 6 tires..... If you want you could use my spare 2 on the back end of your car although I can guarantee the results

But yeah we should try to get into the same class for sure! I'm going to have a buddy or two show up in a pickup with my tools/tires/rims/jacks/ice chest ect in the bed. so I can swap tires at the track. It would be insane to try to drive on those V710's on the street.

V710's were actually the first tire I tried on my Hemi ram as a drag radial. These things get SOOO sticky they pick up every single rock.

Put them on the car and take some real pics so we can see what actual fitment looks like.

what's the weight diff between those bullet wheels with drag rads, and your stock wheels with tires. and? if the stocks are lighter would you really put the drags up front?

I bought them for road coarse racing. My Infiniti dealership rents a 1.7 mile 14 turn track 4 times a year.

I will try running them just on the back at the drag strip!

Thanks for the comments thought

sweet! let me know how much your 1/8th or 1/4 mile times improve when you make your way to the track. i might have to get a pair myself. also, bfg makes a new g-force r1 that you should check out after your burn through the kumho's you've got.

video showshttp://youtube.com/watch?v=6m6QsLLdfY0 why i need something larger the 215 widths and not all weathers treads for the track.

I'm more likely to do Nitto 555r's then BFG's. I had a set of BFG's once that wore out crazy fast like 10k miles. After loosing my money on them I swore never to buy BFG again.

I do see BFG's at the track performing well. They get kind of oily compared to other brands like MT, Nitto, Kumho, Hoosier, M&H ect.

I've had Nitto, Kumho and M&H racing tires before the M&H's were the best all around. M&H makes a 275/50/17 but no 275/40/17 so I don't think I can get them again

I can't wait for these tires to get here so I can see if they fit or if I have to go buy some 245's for the front!

Thanks,

Jeff

I just got word from Infiniti of Scottsdale... They aren't going to let me participate... not even if I pay the $395 entry fee... I guess my only chance to go is if I ride shotgun with you

Oh well, it was worth a shot!

They are here and they are awesome!!!

No rubbing at all. They came on a pallet to my work. I put them on and went for a drive around the block at lunch. It makes my car feel like a go cart!

Very cool!!!

Jeff, I've got a spare running horse grill emblem that you can use!

The only other thing you need is some cobra emblems on your fenders!

I was thinking maybe I'd put my 'hemi' fender emblems off my ram on the front fenders?

I got all 6 tires and 6 wheels in an ebay auction for $480 shipped. Not bad... not bad at all. 4 of the tires probably have 2-5 trips to the oval track left in them. The other 2 are like new!

Good deal!!! Ebay FTW! I recently got a K&N Gen II FIPK intake (similiar to the pop charger) for my cobra for $46 including shipping!! Only had 3k miles on it.

back to Barrett Jackson....

Yeah I figure the cost new is somewhere close to $2500 ($150 a rim and $260 a tire). They guy I bought them from lives in Atlanta and has a 2006 Mustang GT he takes to the road tracks. He sent me a ton of videos.... he was lapping everyone. One of the videos a Z06 spun out just outside a corner pretty crazy stuff.

4 of the tires were just used over a 4 day weekend of racing the other 2 were used twice.

2007 + G owners take note 2005 Mustang GT's have the same bolt pattern as our cars. 17x9" rims will fit on the front of a sedan! 275/40/17 will fit on the front of a sedan!

Driving on the street with those tires was so much fun once I got them warmed up. The car felt so solid

I had lowered my 97 cobra coupe and put 275/40/17's at each corner and it handled great in the twisties!!!!!I might look at putting 275's back on the rear at some point....spins too easy with 245. But, will keep 245 on front. 275's on front doesn't track well on bad pavements for a DD

nice tires/rims gwoods! I borrowed a similar set the last time I went to the autocross track, I loved em! I really need to break down and buy my own set. It looks like ebay will be the way to go If I can't find a good deal elsewhere. I don't mind buying used, especially on cycle race tires. You can get those used and most of the wear is on the outer edge...further than I usually lean anyways, so the centers of the tires are still in pretty good shape.
