Many of you may or may not have noticed that I have recently added a car to my bio/avatar thing. I am not sure how many of you guys ever venture over to the J30 forum but I have a thread there about my new wheels.

Steve's J30

Are you going to make it faster?

You should. Would be a good sleeper.

Congrats on your title. I don't think I realized it before I posted on the J forum.

I don't really think I need to make it faster, the car is plenty fast enough for my needs. I already find myself speeding and the thing cruises at 85 at <3,000 rpms and passes 100 at <3500. For the age and mileage the thing is solid although it's no race car it's surprisingly quick. I was offered dyno time and was contemplating strapping it down for the hell of it, but well see.

The J is not a race car and I am not fast or furious I need reliable transportation and something that has enough power to get out my aggression on the beltway in an inconspicuous manner. I think the struts have been replaced but when it's really cold I am getting some knocking from the strut bearings and I think I might look into some sway bar bushings to tighten it up a little, but as is the thing handles better than many of the newer I driven. It has really interesting power assist steering, there is an early style solenoid mounted to the pinion gear and it starts out stiff but once it starts turning it kicks in full assist. It does the opposite at higher speeds and very well, I do not have 4WAS and I can only imagine that would make a bigger difference when merging from the one highway to another or taking my favorite exit as fast as I can while hitting the apex at the same spot.

All in all the first few weeks of driving an original Infiniti I can see why many owners develop a brand loyalty. I have really loved this brand from a professional stand point but owning one is a different experience. There is nothing like getting into a nicer car after a long stressful day at work, cranking up something a little heavy or some classic rock and speeding the whole way home and taking the long way just because.

Maybe the interesting rear end will grow on me. I do not think I am going to add the T spoiler to it. I really want to just clean it up and leave it stock. However if I happen upon a set of stock wheels <18" I might have to alter it a little.

OMG zozo awesome avatar

I'm gonna be selling my stock 17s...if you're interested...

they are the 6 spoke

congrats on the new ride though. lucky for you, there aren't a lot of problems that you cant fix (in the rare event that you have them after you get her up and runnin). I love Infiniti for the quality and the reliability. Coming from the BMW world, reliability is A+++.

Yeah I saved that avatar a long time ago. Just never used it. I thought it is dramatic but you know me. I just go for it. LOL
