I have a old school setup which came to the car, not enough bass and when the volume goes up it starts to get crappy.

I'm thinking of getting either for the headunit the Panasonic CQC1333U (Car Toys for $130) or Pioneer DEH-P3800M (Best Buy on sale $115)... I would like a detachable face....

As for speakers I would like to upgrade the two door and two rear ones (6.5 for all 4)... I was thinking of going with Sony XSV1642A for $70 pair at Best Buy or Kenwood KFC-1679ie for $70 pair at Car Toys.

I dont know about the amp... it might be aftermarket but if anything I'll get Dual XPA2100 2-Channel Amplifier for $70 bucks.

Thanks all

If you're looking to get an amp to power your speakers you'll want to look into a 4 channel so that way they'll all get equal power unlike with the 2 channel where only 2 would get amplified. Well everything else looks pretty decent. Let us know how it turns out.

do not buy sony... do not buy dual... sony they called xplod for a reason and dual brand amps have tremendous amounts of distortion which kills speakers

I'm not a big fan of sony either. I pretty much stick to JL, Alpine and a few other higher ends.

Yes, that is true that some of Sony's stuff sucks, but their ES line of equipment is top notch!

You can run 4 s

You can run 4 speakers on a two channel amp. Most two channel amps are 2ohm stereo stable which means that you can run two 4 ohm speakers on each channel. Most people don't use the fader so no big deal. Buying a two channel amp gets you more power for the dollar than a 4ch amp.

Buy an Alpine CDA-9856 for $199. LOTS of upgradeability, 3 pr RCAs, iPod input & control, HD Radio, XM, Sirius, Changer, Aux input ready, remote ready. The JL Audio e2150 (until the A2150 starts shipping) is a great little 2 channel amp for $199. Put in some Alpine SPS-17C2 $99pr, or other 6.5" coax. The small additional cost over the kenwoods is worth it. Don't buy Dual or other cheap stuff. Even if you don't buy an amp, the Alpine will still sound better than the $100 radio you're looking at now. Go to an independent shop and get some knowledgeable help. Your ears will thank you.

Thanks for all the posts guys!

I looked into the Alpine HU and it looks good! The speakers also look good but I dont like the silver grill, I think it draws too much attention. I want to go with something black. A grill like the Infinity 6012i speakers would be ideal: (they also are the same price at $99)

Why aren't you going to install them behind the factory grille?
