Hi all, I have a 2001 Inf I30, 100K miles, which has recently got the Check Engine Soon light - codes found were P1320 and P0464. Car is running fine and I do not find any roughness in drive. P1320 relates to Ignition Signal Primary and P0464 relates to Fuel Sensor. There are numerous posts here for P1320 and most indicate problem with one or more Ignition coils. I have checked each of the 6 ignition coils as well as the condenser based on directions from a seasoned member's detailed posting here and steps in FSM EC, for battery voltage, resistance, continuity. All 6 coils and the condenser are fine based on those checks. Any clues what else could be wrong here ?. Any further insight into this problem will be very helpful. Is problem with fuel sensor (P0464) connected with ignition signal (P1320) ?. A few years back, I changed the front 3 spark plugs, but could not reach the rear 3 and thus rear ones have never ever been replaced. Car starts quite well even in the coldest mornings (3 below), and runs ok too so I'm ruling out the spark plug issue. Thanks for reading thru and sharing your thoughts.

Checking the sparkplugs couldn't hurt, but I don't think that's the source of the problem.
I wonder if the issue could be from the crank angle sensor, since that would be what the ECU uses as reference on when to ignite the spark.
Just to be sure, I'd trace the ignition harness and find all the grounding points and clean them thoroughly.

The problem with the fuel sensor probably isn't related to the ignition signal, since it's just an error with the fuel level.

Thank you Razi. I will check out grounding. I will lookup fsm for Crank Angle sensor malfunction, though from description I feel it should cause cylinder misfire which would make drive roug, which is not being experienced.

On these types of problems, since performance does not appear to be affected, I
would clear the codes and see if they come back
If its serious enough, it will

Nutriaforbreakfast, thanks for the reply. I agree this is something I sould have tried right away, but did not occur to me. I could not get Advance Auto to use their OBD scan to reset the codes. But over the weekend, I will unplug the battery cable which I believe should reset it. As well, will check the grounding as mentioned previous post. I will report back.

Hi all, final chapter of this episode. My brother had similar experience (CES) with his Mazda for almost two years, and one day he filled his tank full at a Shell station, and voila! the CES vanished. I followed his sagely advice and after filling it up full yesterday at a Shell as I inserted the key, my eyes almost popped out in disbelief when the CES sign did not show up... magic I say!. My usual gas is from Costco and sometimes BP. Its hard to explain but two first hand experiences and a no-effort-fix make it a worthy advice. Thank you all for support. Viva Nicoclub!.

If your gas cap is extremely old you might get a new one
Sounds like an emmissions related issue which can be tough to fix
