just some feedback for murano forum users. based on what i learned from previous forum posts, when my '09 murano's check engine soon light came on i retightened my gas cap 5+ clicks. the feedback is that it took almost a week for the light to reset (go out). my type "a" personality was tested ... the moral of the story is be patient.

In order to reset system, take the positive cable off for a few seconds. If it doesn't reset, take to Autozone to have FREE diagnostic run .

Disconnecting the battery no longer resets the ECU, it did on the older models but this is not the case with newer models, if you want to reset your ECU you need the CONSULT II or new III software tool to reset codes, unfortunately only Nissan dealers have access to this tool.

You ask for headaches if you do this with your Murano. Do so and find yourself in the position of having to reinitialize sunroof, windows and more..
Replacing a battery can cause the same inconvenience.
