My '98 240sx basic coupe (5spd-a/c) ck eng lite came on and I had the code read at an auto parts store and it came up with a "P1105" code ( Manufacture controlled air/fuel sensor)... is that the "Mass air flow sensor " between the air cleaner and carb... or what???...Had the code cleared ..drove all day without it comming back on...BUT the next day the same code appeared.... can I drive it in this condition... everything seems fine with it on???Thanks... Sounds the the MAF. Your car is probably running rich because when the maf oes bad the ECU goes into safe mode. Just go get another MAF they should be cheap enough.

Perform the ECU code check your self and I can help you better. It could be the MAF but you would have drivability issues like surging when accelerating and things like that also. Here is the link to doing the ECU code dump yourself. Post back with the codes!

Also once you do that here are the codes so you can read them yourself but I still want you to post what codes you get.

Thanks for your various inputs..... ... cleaned the vanes in the mass air flow sensor... the egr and the maf sensor... Possibly because of the hurricains in Fort lauderdale where I live dirt/dust moisture must have been in the air intake system??? doesn't make sence but the ck engin lite is no longer comming on.... cleared the codes by using the auto parts store's ck engine lite reader to erase codes... that was much easier... Thakx for your suggestions!! Tazzy
