Check engine light went on...

i decided to try my luck with my bonestock '97 240sx AUTOMATIC w/82k miles against a Scion TC. well after 2 lights of messing around i knew it was time to do a real stop light run, so from there i slid the auto to "1" and launch pretty good, i get about half a car and then i slide to "2" (remember this is an AUTO), and just as i reach 7k and am about to actually shift into "D" (drive), the check engine light goes on. by this time he screeches 2nd and passes me, but i already gave up after the light goes on...

so i got home and turned off the engine, wait a couple hours pop the hood check all the fluids and air filter, everything looked ok, so i started the engine with the hood still propped.

there was a small rattling noise on the intake side (same side as the oil filter & OPPOSITE side of the header and oil stick). any of you guys know where specifically that noise is coming from, its a small rattling noise as if something is loose...
