Hi Guys, i am new to this Forum, and i just bought an 05 Pathfinder SE, i had it for 6 days when i had to return it to the dealership because there was water leaking under the dashboard onto the passenger side when it rained. It took the service department 6 days to find the leak and fix it. Anyways, i got the car back on Monday, and Wednesday, the Service Engine Soon light came on. The dealership asked me if i had gassed up recently, and i had, but i don't recall if i clicked the cap or not. They told me to fill it up, tighten the cap, and wait 48 hours to see if it goes away I am familiar with what vapor lock is)

Anyways, here is my question, on all my previous cars the fuel filler tube had a spring loaded valve that would cover the opening...when the gas nozzle was inserted it would open, and it would close automatically afterwards, i noticed that on my pathfinder, it didn't have this valve. Shouldn't i be able to see this valve? Is it further down in the tube and perhaps i don't see it?

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Thanks,Joe

What was cause of your water leak? I am having the same problem and can't figure it out. Thanks!

welcome to NICO, both of you.

Regarding the gas cap problem, is it still there? Im not sure about the little flap your talking about, i would assume that the pathy has one but it may just be stuck or something...

Hi, after 6 days at the dealer they found that there was a small pinhole in between the windshield. It was allowing water to flow behind the dash and filled up some sort of ac condensation collector (not sure of the exact term)

once that filled up enough if you took a turn it would overflow onto the passengers feet.

The chcek engine light was due to the gas cap not being put back on correctly when the dealership filled my tank upon delivery. No problems there since.

They fixed it and it hasn't happened since. I have had it for over a year now. My only complaint with the patfinder has been that there seem to be alot of squeeks when going over bumps...i guess i could take it to the dealership to have them check it out but i have two jobs, and two kids so i don't really have time to do that now.
