I have a 1995 J30. About 111,000 miles on it. Past couple of days the check engine light is coming on shortly after start-up. Stays on for just a few minutes and then goes off. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. Anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, GrannyKim:help

The code probably means something is out of spec with your emmissions control equipment.

Have someone pull the code from the computer, may be a slow oxygen sensor or something.

I had the same problem with my J30 last fall at abot 118K. I had the dealer pull the codes and was informed that it was a clogged EGR tube. The estimate from the dealer was $8-900 since they said they would have to pull the transmission. I took it to T3 for $300. Well worth the trip and the CEL has yet to come on again.

Alright guys...first time caller, long time listener, etc, etc.'94 J30t w/Code 32. I've got appropriate vacuum at the EGR, diaphragm moves w/RPMs appropriately, no change in idle when I move the diaphragm manually...I'm thinking clogged tubes. Are the tubes to the intake the only ones that get plugged and does anyone have any tips to removal and cleaning? Any other suggestions on this project would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, J.

Make a mini drill powered roto rooter. The entire system gets clogged.....10 years.

Thought I'd post a follow-up...Driver's side tube was charcoaled for ~2 inches from the intake. A small awl, a can of berryman's, and about two hrs labor is all it took. No $800 to the stealership, no $300 to Joe Blow...this one is a slam dunk.Anyone with code 32 and what seems to be a working EGR would be well served to take on this task. FWIW, watch the valve cover bolt at the rear brackets (don't over-torque as I did on the DS) and the coolant intake to the EGR has to come off, even if you leave the valve in place (its in the way).
