Light came on this afternoon and code was p1400, egr/evap purge solenoid valve..... whipped out voltmeter and it looks like the solenoid valve is dead.....anyone have one laying around that they want to part with???? the part is about the size of a walnut located front to left of intake tube......let me know- thanks

I called the dealer and there seems to be 2 different manufacturers and part numbers......and using the VIN does not reveal which one to order, and not in stock for them to eyeball any differences......what a system,huh?

Is it a parts that fits 1990-1996 Q45's?

If so I might be able to help you out.

good question Paul.......if you have one laying around, post the numbers engraved in the top of it! Parts dept is not sure about this item, they say 2 different parts manufacturers for my car, and possibly 2 of them under there!!!!!

Very similar, except the one I need has the Mitsubishi logo and part number engraved on top is k5T46582....for some reason, there is 2 different parts{mitsu. and hitachi} and vin lookup does not denote one vs the other.

If this is indeed a part that fits all G50 (1990-1996) Q45's then the different manufactures makes not difference. If they do the same thing exactly as shown in the service manual it makes no difference. Are you able to check the manufacture of your original solenoid?

Like I said the service manual shows only a solenoid in which you test and I doubt which OEM parts manufacture makes it if it does its job correctly for a long time.

IOS lists 2 different parts for the egr solenoid, a hitachi or a mitsubishi.....my car has the mitsubishi part, not sure they are interchangable or why list and make available 2 different parts?????? Someone has got to have one of these laying around??????

I need the one with the mitsubishi logo and part #K5T46582 engraved on top!!!!!

Infiniti did the same with the power transistor mounted on the valve covers. It happened sometime during the 94 model build but they're all the same as the 240sx owners have found out. IIRC I've seen the same for a controller or relay under the dash.

You should try one of mine. If it has the same nipple pattern and connector chances are darned good it will work just fine. Email me if you're interested.

If it has the same connector my guess they are the same... I mean after all its basically just an on/off switch.

Email sent.......nipple patern is like the 2 in bottom picture of yours, both nipples pointing up.......{ geez that almost sounds sinister!!!}

qship- did you verify the evap solenoid in first gear at >4 mph? the valve does not normally open in park. just to make sure you are chasing the right problem, might apply 12v across the solenoid and see if it clicks.

Update to problem at hand.....first off a big thanks to Mike {goody 90q45} for sending me one of his spare solenoids, unfortunately I can now answer why Infiniti lists 2 different part numbers for the part{ mitsubishi and hitachi} the connectors are different, close- but no match.....how stupid of a design is that??????

I am going to see my buddy Frank Hill tomorrow to have him replace the swaybar end links and bushings, and will see if he has a spare connector plug that I can match up to the solenoid and then solder into my current harness after cutting the original connector off......if not, I will have to bite the bullet and waste $90 on ordering the part from IOS, and return Mikes part to him......things are never simple when dealing with an old beast, especially when it is 105F out!

I would rather pay the money for a new solenoid than cut up the OEM original engine harness. I hate dealing with electrical problems But thanks for verification on the solenoids.

when you have 254K on the car, and plan on disposal cutoff at 300k {less than 2 years from now if nothing major fails before then} you look at things through a different lens. I do not anticipate any electrical problems from something as simple as soldering a new connector on......not rocket science here!

I completely understand what your saying and I hope your still a NICO member after the Q is gone. But nothing is easy or simple on the Q at least my Q45. I tore apart the shifter only to find there is no bushing available from the dealer and grease was the only safe option. And after the ordeal (90*F weather) the solenoid is only slightly more quieter, About as load as the relay inside the Shift Lock Control Unit when pressing the gear shift switch down.

I am just saying if it were me I would either buy a new solenoid or make a mini harness from male and female connectors of the one you need. Thats safer and easier if the connectors are available but in your case I doubt it.

Do you plan on selling your car or parting it out (Scrapping it after selling the good stuff)?

I will drive it til something major fails, then have it towed to graveyard.....no time or will to dismantle and try to sell for parts.......some graveyard digger will get some good newer oem parts from it......not sure what will replace it, either a newer luxury barge or super high mpg small hybrid.....depends on fuel prices and other priorities at the time I guess......would love to get a 3 year old off lease Audi A8L, but the reliability issues keep me at arms length

I would recommend the Fisker Karma but after seeing the front I lost the will to look at it:

The interior isn't too nice either.

I am waiting to see what the new BMW 8 series or new Infiniti Q45 will look like.

Well, spare connector in hand!!!! frank had a box of various Nissan connectors and pigtails salvaged from previous jobs....will splice and test on Saturday when it is cooler outside. A fyi, had front swaybar endlinks and bushings replaced- bushings were toast, but shockingly the 255K old drivers side end link was still in good condition.....replaced the pair anyways as I had already purchased the pair with bushings{ only $41 from Amazon}
