i would say take it to autozone so they could run the code for free... but i'm guessing that may be tough :D

is nothing happening at all when you turn the key?

Check what code(s) the ECU is throwing.

check with autozone to find out if they can test your ignition control module. The catch is that you will have to take it out of the distributor and take it down to them so they can test it. Usually these parts can cause the problem that you are describing, at least more commonly on domestic vehicles. And if it is bad, you can expect to spend about 130 dollars or in that range.

Good Luck

you do know how to check the ecu for codes right? That will steer you in the right direction. If you have a DVOM you could test the ignition yourself, but i realize not everyone has those. (Which makes no sense to me cause its one of your main diagnostic tools and I got a good one for $25) Check the codes (if that doesn't work or you can't)Test the coil (either DVOM or spark tester)Does it have spark?........If yes does it have fuel?Check the distributer contacts. If it is a weak spark then it may be your power transistor. FYI if you do find out it is the coil, and you do not have a buddy to swap one or you can't find on in the jyard, buy the Blaster coil from MSD. It requires a little rewiring but you will have better spark, and not to mention its $230 dollars cheaper than your stock coil from nissan
