check engine light

I got a SR swap done on my 90 hatch and was wondering if the check engine is supposed to work? Do you guys have the light on when you first turn on the ignition ? I know I should search this but how do you read engine codes on these motors (similar to the way with the KA)??

Is the check light suposed to work? Yes, but on 99.2% of SR swap it is not done same case with the consult port.

To read stored ecu codes, turn ignition to on positon(engine off), turn diagnostic screw(on ecu), full right 2-4sec then full left(count#of slow flashes then the # of fast flashes)

it all depends on who ever did you're wiring if they hooked it up.
