My check engine light keeps coming on. My car has been shaking for a few months already. When i started my car it was idleing at 500rpm then it fluctuated at 20 rpm increments then dropped below 500rpm and stalled... Started it up again and was still shaking. The shaking has been more severe over the past month with occasional check engine lights. I have tired to clean and wiggle the maf sensor no luck. Changed oil with synthetic Mobil 10-30w and changed fuel filter. The air filter is clean. I just dont know what it could be at all. It doesnt seem like the drive shaft because it rattles when idleing as well as accerating. No chain guides have been done at 187k miles. NEED HELP HERE.

When I had the same problem, the EGR connector was loose.

Tightened the connector and cleared the code. Light never came back on, and idle was smooth again.

Problem could be more severe- Knock Sensors, but I'm not sure that this would cause stalling.

Oh what the heck, see Wes & Jesdas Q45.org: http://www.q45.org/roughidle.html

The EGR is a few inches north of the arrow, next to the throttle body. You have a check-engine light. Why not retrieve the code? It might provide some insight to the problem.

Edit: To see if the valve itself works, with the engine idling apply a vacuum to the small hose going to the EGR from the solenoid. Engine should stumble as the valve opens under vacuum. To see if the solenoid works you place the vacuum gauge on the hose coming from it and apply 12v to the terminals. Should read about 16-18"Hg at idle.

Ok i did the TB cleaning as well as the maf sensor and connector cleaning and i still have a check engine light. I did feel a difference in throttle response. The diagnosis is a must i think.
