Check engine light quandary

Hi,

On my 95Qa, the check engine light comes on when traveling on the freeway only. As soon as the car is turned off and restarted, the light remains off until freeway operation.

I checked the error code on the computer and it gave me a 55 (system operation normal). Further, I am getting very poor fuel mileage; I guesstimate around 10mpg overall driving.

As of this date, I have cleaned the MAF, and suspect the Oxygen sensors as to poor fuel mileage and throwing the check engine light.

That is extremely odd. The ECU has a memory. Any code it throws should be stored for the next 50 starts. Are you sure you didn't clear it accidentally without getting the code first?

back up... i have the same problem and i think it is the O2 sensor i had changed the driveers side but passenger side is stuck like a MFer it is going in this week to see if we cant get the other side off my check engine light does the same thing resets every time i restart the car and pops on while on the freway. BTY getting my mustang GT milege 12mpg and used to get 18 and the wife gets 24
