Check engine light on

I recently purchased a 92 240sx, here's the deal it runs fine but it will stop running for like twenty minutes and then it starts up just fine, the check engine light comes on and blinks a code of some kind i'm sure, but it goes out once I accelerate, it also idle's a little rough. Any help would be greatly appreciated.... I plan on taking it to a shop to have the trouble code read if no one has any inputs.....

The kid I bought the car has aftermarket headers and breather(the thing for cool air) sorry can't remember what that's called...maybe this has something to do with it?

I did the search, but only found the codes for 89 model, I read through it and it mentioned checking the green and red lights on the ecu, but my ecu only has a red light in the back not both....Also wanted to know if a blown gasket on the headers would cause the rough idle plus the check engine light. When the engine dies it will not start for about 20 minutes, I believe this is the ecu telling it not to start because of something...
